I work as a professional musician, a session bassist and producer.
I've played with many renowned artists including:
You can hear some of my music at www.myspace.com/pollittbureau
I am also available for sessions.
I have three children of my own, am CRB checked and can supply references if needed.
Slap, reggae, rock, funk, blues, metal, punk, ska, pop, modern jazz and more.
This video shows the technique of slapping the bass. It also has a finger bass section similar to the style of Geddy Lee.
I aim to make learning as fun as possible and encourage my pupils to bring along music that they really want to learn.
I teach using the latest audio technology (Logic Pro) to aid the lessons.
After your lesson you will take home recordings of the lesson and a backing track to aid your home practice.
Of course some music theory is involved but I try to make it interesting and enjoyable.
Parent/child lessons are a fun way for you and your child to learn a new skill together.
Gift vouchers are available for lessons and make a great present.
You don't even need a bass. I am happy to lend my pupils a guitar for their lesson.
I can offer tuition in music production and music technology too, in all sorts of styles: funk, pop, dance, drum n bass, chillout, grime, dubstep, hip hop...
I have recorded and produced 2 albums using Logic Pro software.
I am based in Cambridge. I give lessons in the City and surrounding area.
Lessons available, daytime, after school, evenings and weekends.

When my son was 12 (7 years ago) he asked for a bass for Christmas, which we chose together in a music shop in Cambridge. I asked the staff in the shop if they knew of a bass teacher they could recommend and they all, as one, pointed to a little notice which Davey had put up near the counter and told me he was excellent.
After one lesson, we knew that they were right. Over the past seven years, Davey has been a wonderful teacher, not to mention friend and mentor, to my son.
He is enthusiastic and knowledgeable and his lessons are creative and interesting. My son came out of every single lesson telling me how much he had enjoyed it and I never had to remind him to practice as he also found that the ‘homework’ Davey gave him was lots of fun.
